Hot Tubs at the Lake

Cottage Rentals with Hot Tub

If you’ve never experienced the pleasure of sitting in a warm Hot Tub while the snow falls around you, you’ve missed a simple but delightful treat.  There truly is nothing so relaxing as enjoying the peaceful quiet of the night, the stars, the moonshine, the hoot of a Barred Owl and the soft snowflakes falling all around you.

Several cottage rentals in Ontario have  Hot Tubs and if your rental does, there are a few things you should know.  The most comfortable water temperature is generally 102 – 104 degrees (F).  The jets in the tub will provide not only comforting water movement, but they double as great massages for those aching muscles!  There is a wide variety of Hot Tubs – the very ultra modern units even have Audio-Visual components, but all you really need is the right temperature and a few jets.  If there are several people in the tub, it’s best to start with a higher temperature as the exposure to the cooler night air and water circulation will cool the water down, as will your body temperature.  However the heater will kick in automatically and quickly bring the pre-set temperature back up.

But a word of caution – the chemical balance of the water must provide for safe usage.  The appropriate levels of chlorine or bromine must be present to kill bacteria.  If your Ontario cottage rental has a hot tub, make sure that you know that it will be chemically balanced before your arrival.  If you are not familiar with the testing and usage of these chemicals, do not start adding any components to the water or you could throw all the levels off the norm that is required for safe usage.

A note about drinking alcohol in the Hot Tub – your cottage rental will have a strict ‘No Party’ policy and alcohol in the tub is not a good idea – the high temperatures of the water will contribute to increased ‘effects’ of the alcohol.  So beware!

Otherwise you will have a wonderful experience that you won’t soon forget! Ahhh…
