What exactly is Cottage Dreams and why does At the Lake Cottage Rentals support them?
Cottage Dreams is a Cancer Recovery Initiative and registered charity that offers recent cancer patients and their families an opportunity to spend time at a donated cottage. Cottage owners, whether or not they normally get involved in cottage rentals, offer time at their cottage to these families.
Time to Reflect
It provides these families time to reconnect with loved ones, to rejuvenate, and to simply forget the pain they’ve been through.
A recipient fills out an application form and when approved, they can start to look forward to what many have described as the most rewarding family experience ever.
Owners are provided with a tax receipt for the time donated at their cottage.
This is truly a Win Win exchange.
But as with all registered charities, Cottage Dreams relies on financial donations from people like you. We have all been touched by cancer – our families, our friends – and this is one fantastic way you can make a difference to the survivors and their families. And of course, you receive an income tax receipt for your donation.
Your support can take many forms:
- sponsor a day at the lake
- annual Golf Tournament (May 31 Coppinwood Golf Club)
- sponsor a visit
- e-cards
- host or employee gift
- Mosquitos and Mojitos Event (May 7 Steam Whistle Toronto)
- hand painted chair-ity auction (March 26-28)

At the Lake Cottage Rentals has always recognized that time at a cottage with loved ones is an unforgettable experience that will be fondly remembered for a lifetime. And we like to do our part – in fact, we do it in two ways:
- on our application form a renter has the opportunity of making a donation through our system to Cottage Dreams.
- we donate 20% of our commission to Cottage Dreams in the name of the cottage owner who receives the tax receipt
