The natural beauty of Muskoka as well as its clean air seems to have natural healing powers as it promotes relaxation with every breath you take and every vista you soak in.
The area know as Muskoka is well known for many things – artists, festivals, theatres, boat cruises, fine dining, golfing, romantic get-aways, pristine lakes, granite outcroppings, fishing, fall colours, cranberry marshes, water activities, cross country skiing, snowmobiling, ice fishing and on it goes.
Most cottage rentals in Muskoka occur during the summer and fall months and cottage renters are ready for either a low key vacation where relaxing is the main interest, or one with more activities and things to do while at the lake or in the town.
If you have a cottage rental in the Huntsville, Bracebridge or Gravenhurst area you may be interested in some of these ‘things to do’:
THEATRES in MUSKOKA
The Algonquin Theatre in downtown Huntsville has about 400 seats and every one of them provides an excellent view. Outside the doors of the theatre is the life size Bronze statue of Tom Thompson (by local sculptor Brenda Wainman-Goulet) which is nothing short of breathtaking. The theatre hosts many well known musicians and comedians and other entertainers. Schedule of upcoming events is on their website.

The new Rene M Caisse Memorial Theatre is located 2 minutes from downtown Bracebridge and has a backdrop of forest to show it off. There are 300 excellent seats and the sound and lighting will effects are top drawer!
The old Gravenhurst Opera House is still pleasing crowds with its line-up of guests whose sole purpose is to entertain you. Although the Opera House is old, it never fails to deliver a performance you won’t soon forget.
BOAT CRUISES in MUSKOKA
Gravenhurst is well known as the home of the steamships and the new Wharf provides yet another destination. Home port of the Muskoka Steamships and the Muskoka Boat and Heritage Centre, this is a ‘must see’ to go on your list. Reservations for Boat cruises are recommended, whether it’s an afternoon or dinner cruise. Here you can see the Winona and the Seguin Ships.
